WOU congratulates Prof Wong on his Dato’ award

The Wawasan Open University learning community would like to congratulate Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Wong Tat Meng on being conferred with the Dato’ Setia Di Raja Kedah (DSDK) award which carries the title Dato’.

Prof Wong was bestowed the DSDK award in conjunction with the 84th birthday of the Sultan of Kedah, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah Sultan Badlishah, at Istana Anak Bukit Raja, Alor Star.

The DSDK award is given to honour those who have made enormous contributions to state and country, have a wide influence and hold high positions.

Prof Wong, with over 35 years experience in both conventional and ODL universities in Malaysia and Hong Kong, was among the 44 recipients of the DSDK medal this year.

He is a native of Kedah and an ‘old boy’ of the Sultan Abdul Hamid College, Alor Star, where he studied from 1957-1964 and obtained his Cambridge Higher School Certificate.

He also represented the Kedah state team in badminton while still at lower secondary school.
