DR WILLIE CLARKE-OKAH STRESSES A POINT.
An education specialist in Higher Education and Policy Development from the Commonwealth of Learning (COL), Dr Willie Clarke-Okah, spent two days visiting and holding discussions with members of WOU’s School of Business and Administration. He also met up with supporting operations departments, namely Educational Technology, IT Services, and the Publishing Unit.
The meetings at WOU were initiated by Dr Clarke-Okah as part of his rounds of visit to higher learning institutions that participated in the Commonwealth Executive Master of Business Administration and Master of Public Administration (CeMBA/CeMPA) programmes. Before coming to Malaysia and to WOU, he had visited three other countries to understand and lend expertise on the development of the programmes.
On 4 April 2006, WOU and COL had signed an MoU to offer these programmes by distance learning on a part-time basis to busy working professionals.
DR CLARKE-OKAH MEETS THE DEAN OF THE SCHOOL OF BUSINESS & ADMINISTRATION, PROF CHEAH KOOI GUAN (RIGHT) AND THE SCHOOL’S COURSE COORDINATORS.
During the meeting with WOU’s business course coordinators, Dr Clarke-Okah offered suggestions to improve and localise the mode of delivery of the programmes. His facilitative role among the participating countries enabled him to obtain sample courses from these universities as reference for WOU’s development of the programme. In return, WOU will convert the print mode of the courses in the programmes into online mode. WOU hopes to offer CeMBA/CeMPA by January 2008.

DR CLARKE-OKAH IN HIS TRADITIONAL GARB.
Dr Clarke-Okah also serves as the Counsellor and Head of Development Cooperation at the High Commission of Canada in Jamaica. He has been associated with the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) for over 25 years, and comes with an extensive background in international development and education that spans 32 years in varied functions dealing with policy and programming.
