WOU presents Bursary Award for full-time studies

WOU specially welcomes the two pioneer full-time students for its initial offering of the Bachelor of Business (Hons) in Management and Bachelor of Business (Hons) in Accounting programmes for the September intake.

School-leavers Yeoh Jin Yeh, 21, and Lim Chin Fung, 20, are the first two recipients of the Inaugural Intake Bursary Award given to the first 50 students who enrol for full-time degree programmes at WOU. This award guarantees a 30% off on total tuition fees or discounts of up to RM10,000 to those who register early for studies at WOU.

Both Yeoh and Lim received their mock award from Acting Head of WOU’s Penang Regional Centre Acting, Teh Kim Kow, during a simple presentation at the main campus today.

Yeoh from Methodist Boys School enrolled for Accounting at WOU to realise his ambition of becoming a Chartered Accountant. He chose WOU because “its reputation is good” and the lecturers have a good grasp of their subjects”.

“I also like the learning environment by the sea. My cousin who studied via open distance learning at WOU told me about the nice facilities here, and how caring and friendly the tutors are,” he added.

Once he graduates, he aspires to take the ACCA qualifications and achieve his ambition to become a Chartered Accountant, especially since the Accounting Degree from WOU is recognised by professional accounting bodies.

Meanwhile Lim from Heng Ee High School is taking up Management at WOU to learn “how to manage a business”. His experience as a part-time waiter has fired up his ambition to become a Manager in the food and beverage sector.
