A recent visit to technology powerhouse Dell proved to be an educational and enlightening experience for students of WOU’s School of Digital Technology (DiGiT). After the tour, they were able to gain a better understanding of industry standards, emerging trends and market expectations in a real-world manufacturing setting.

On 21 October 2023, a mangrove tree planting event was held at Hutan Simpan Paya Bakau, Pantai Malindo at Balik Pulau. The event was organised by the WOU full-time Co-Curriculum course students together with the WOU Student Council and assisted by the MBPP landscape team.

The grounds of WOU’s main campus transformed into a vibrant hub of celebration and excitement, much to the delight of those who turned up at the much-anticipated Family Day on 21 October 2023.

About 60 students and educators from WOU and SM Teknik Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra (STAR Putra) planted 400 mangrove saplings along the riverbank in Malindo Beach, Balik Pulau, as part of a green initiative for coastal preservation.

The BUKA (Better Universities and Knowledge for All) Conference 2023 marked the culmination of the global BUKA project which began in February 2020 with the goal of increasing fairness and access to higher education through open and distance learning (ODL).

The winning entries in the poster competition on the adaptive reuse of the historical military pillboxes at Teluk Kumbar offered designs that highlight the historical significance of the structures, promote tourism, and benefit the local community.
