WOU does its part for the Blood Bank

Over 20 staff of Wawasan Open University came forward to donate blood at the ‘Donate Blood and Save a Life’ campaign held at the university’s main campus.

The blood donation campaign was organised by the WOU Staff Recreation Club (SRC) with the cooperation of the Penang Hospital Blood Bank. This campaign is the first community project of the newly-formed club.

Among those who donated blood were Dr. Andy Liew, SRC chairman and WOU’s senior assistant registrar, and Choy Paik Lin from the Learning and Library Services Unit. Dr. Liew was donating blood for the 33rd time while Choy said that this is her sixth.

There were a few first-timers among the blood donors, such as Zulkifly Pawanchek and A. Balachandran from the General Services and Administration Department of the university.

Choy: "This is my sixth time...donating blood is simple and quite painless."

CHOY: “THIS IS MY SIXTH TIME…DONATING BLOOD IS SIMPLE AND QUITE PAINLESS.”

This activity is in line with the university’s effort to live up to its corporate social responsibility and give back to society.
